ETFE film for facade use
2017/05/23

ETFE (ethylene-tetra-fluoric-ethylene) film is a transparent polymer which is highly transparent and very lightweight in comparison to structures using glass. It can transmit up to 90% of sunlight, is highly durable, fire resistant, and is ecologically friendly due to its easy maintenance and recyclability. ETFE film can be appled as a single layer system reinforced with either wire cables, light weight steel or aluminum to maintain shape and stability, or they can be applyed in a double, triple or four layer system incorporating a pneumatic system to maintain air between the layers of film attached in aluminum extrusions and supported by a lightweight structure creating inflated cushions. These cushions are filled with low-pressure air, providing thermal insulation and structural stability against wind or snow loads. See below for some of ETFE film applications to facades by MakMax group.
