Completion of Kennedy Town Swimming Pool
2017/02/15

Kennedy Town Swimming Pool in Hong Kong, is the first in China to be fitted with the translucent insulated membrane roofing system, Tensotherm. The facility was designed by the Terry Farrell and Partners architecture firm, responsible for a number of photogenic projects in the city and around the world, including the semi-circular Peak Tower in Hong Kong and Gatwick Airport in the UK.

The complex is triangular shaped with a curved roof opening towards the harbor. In addition to the new indoor pool, it houses a standard outdoor pool and a kiddie pool with a small playground.

Through joint cooperation between Shanghai Taiyo Kogyo Corporation and Birdair Inc., the scope included design, engineering, fabrication, supply, installation and project management of the 1,000 square meter roofing system.

Showcasing wonderful light translucency for swimming, Tensotherm, the translucent insulated membrane roofing system features an 8mm aerogel blanket, providing an R-value of 4.90 (U-value of 1.16).
